TAMPA, FL - As a long and hectic summer comes to end for us at Prospect Wire, we are sure that college coaches, MLB scouts, parents, players, travel coaches and families alike are experiencing the same fatigue. Just when you think you get a breather, the baseball starts right back up again in the Fall.
Baseball has become a year-round sport for almost two decades now, and if you aren't playing year-round, you are behind the game. Fall baseball has become almost as important as summer baseball - especially for those trying to prove themselves worthy of the MLB Draft next June.
Prospect Wire has received overwhelming support of our events, and an abundance of compliments. And for that, we thank you! Prospect Wire is proud to announce that we will run two of our own events this Fall, and be involved as a scouting service for a 3rd party event.
Prospect Wire will begin running our events nationally next year, so this is the final Fall where we will devote 100% of our energies to the state of Florida. With that in mind, this year's version of the annual All-Florida Weekend Showcase is shaping up to be the best one yet.
At PW, we don't believe in running events all the time as they become watered down. And our All-Florida Showcase is the ONLY showcase that we run each year. Many times players will miss and their parents will ask us if they can come to the next one. But the answer is always the same - there isn't another one until next year. So this is one you don't want to miss.
All-Florida is an invitation-only event that has rotated sites since it's inception in 2007 - starting at FIU, moving to the Nationals Complex in Viera, FL, and then running last year at Lake Myrtle in Auburndale. This year's edition will return to the south Florida area, and Jupiter, FL at the Roger Dean Complex - spring training home of the St. Louis Cardinals and Florida Marlins. The event will be held October 1-3, 2010. The event has had at least one Florida first round draft pick attend each year since it's inception and this year looks to be no different with some high profile names already committed to attend this elite showcase. If you are interested in this event, you can request an invite by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org.
The next event, is the George M. Steinbrenner Classic at the Yankees Complex in Tampa, FL. George Steinbrenner is widely regarded as one of the greatest owners, if not THE greatest owner in sports history. Steinbrenner passed away earlier this year, and this tournament was named in his honor. The event has big plans for future expansion, and Prospect Wire is proud that they were named the official scouting service of the tournament.
PW's final event will be run October 29-31, 2010 at the Lake Myrtle Complex in Auburndale, FL. The event was formerly called the Elite World Series, but has been changed this year to the PW Fall Wood Bat Classic. Over 24 teams are already registered to attend this event, with top programs committed such as the 2010 PW runner up state finalist CBC Storm, the 7-time WWBA Champion Florida Bombers, and plenty more. This event is almost sold out, so if you are interested, we need to know ASAP.
