Prospect Wire Florida State Finals: Day One Blog
By: |

SARASOTA, FL - Its day one at Prospect Wire’s Florida State Finals and everyone has been battling the elements. With two inches of rain falling throughout the night multiple sites that the games were to take place at have been shut down for the day. However the field at Ed Smith Stadium, the spring training facility of the Baltimore Orioles, was dry enough to continue on with the scheduled day one combine. The prospect wire staff did an excellent job preparing for the Florida summertime showers. They not only kept the Wednesday slots open to push delayed games back to, but they also reserved fields for Thursday to play on if more rain delays are to come.

Organization was key as they filed two thousand prospects through the visitor clubhouse to record physical stats, contact information and take headshots. The 60-yard dash was the only timed event on the day, and saw low times of 6.7 seconds from Josh Taylor and 6.8 seconds from Chad Miller both of whom are 16U’s. With over 75 percent of the teams yet to run, lower times are still to be expected.
