Monroe Throws A Gem, PW 18U Wins Game 1
By: Brian Werner | brian@prospectwire.com

Boca Raton, FL - Even though Prospectwire's 18U got some great timely hitting, it really wasn't needed Thursday afternoon.  2010 Grad Marc Monroe tossed 6 scoreless innings vs. 5 Tool Baseball as Prospectwire took Game 1 of the Florida Bombers Showdown at FAU.

"He (Monroe) was on tonight," said Coach Paul Giambalvo.  "He had a heavy FB tonight.  It just bore down on hitters tonight. He was 85-86 with good command.  He used both sides of the plate well.  He had a good feel for his breaking ball too.  It was a great performance.  When he needed a ground ball, he got it.  We turned 3 double plays today.  It was a great all around game.  Good win!"

While Monroe was the star, some other players turned in good days at the plate.  Brandon Meadows was 3-3 at the plate, driving in a run and swiping 2 bases.  Dakota Wilson drove in 2 runs, while Spencer Gilleon chipped in with an RBI of his own.  Joey Hall also picked up 2 hits, including a double for Prospect Wire, who takes the field tomorrow at 12:40 pm for Game 2.

"We only had 10 guys, so it was good to get this win," remarked Giambalvo.  "The guys really played solid defense all day and fed off Marc's pitching.  Looking forward to seeing what they do tomorrow.  I know we have a few more guys coming, so that will be good to add depth!"
