California Love: ABD Cali Showcase Top Prospects
By: Corey Goldfarb | corey@prospectwire.com

Riverside, CA - This was our first trip out to California to cover a travel organization's tryout/showcase. We couldn't of asked for a better program to cover than the ABD Academy based outside of Los Angeles in southern California.

Nearly 200 players were at Riverside College trying to make their best impressions on the ABD staff.

The weather conditions weren't ideal. With steady winds of 20-30 mph blowing straight in from left field and temperatures in the 40's at night, the ABD staff still managed to run a flawless event.

The players, parents, scouts, and coaches didn't mind the weather. After all, with so many great players in attendance, all anyone cared about was the competition on the field.

Our staff would like to especially thank Randy Curtis for inviting us out there to cover the event. Randy and his staff were as courteous, personable, hard-working, and knowledgable about baseball as any travel organization in the country. The ABD players were a mirror image of their coaches, proving that ABD does a great job developing young men as well as baseball players.

The first day consisted of pro-style workouts. Batting practice, 60 yard dash, bullpens, and infield/outfield. The 60 yard dash track was a bit slow and into a good wind, times were adjusted .5 seconds.
