BOYNTON BEACH - One of the tournament favorites, the South Florida Elite 16U Black got a scare this morning as they went up 9-1 on the Florida Pokers Gray. The Pokers made a late rally to tie it at 10-10 when the time limit struck. The Elite held on with a walk off hit in the bottom of the tiebreaker inning to survive day 1 with a scare. Kevin Perez sat 85-89mph during his start for the Elite Black.
The Bombers 16U defeated the Pokers 16U White in another 10am game in what could shape up to be a key game in that bracket.
Combines went on this morning and the SF Elite Black's Jose Gomez ran a 6.84 and chucked it 90mph from the OF, showing off some tools. He put those tools to work during the game, hitting for a triple, and stealing 3 bases in the win over the Pokers Grey.
The Prospects Red ten run ruled the Falcon Baseball Club. Danny Hernandez, a 2014 grad, showed near plus actions for his age and ran well during the combine.
